20-21 January: Joan as Police Woman.
The new year means the new star as a guest of Novocaina Restaurant. This time – 20 and 21 of January we hosted Joan Wasser performing together with her trio as JOAN AS POLICE WOMAN. She came to Wroclaw to play a concert at the Impart music hall. Joan is a legend of white American soul music. She skillfully combines the classical elements inspired by Al Green or Nina Simon with some more “rough” sounds in as Sonic Youth-like style. She is highly recognizable also thanks to countless cooperations with top musicians – suffice it to say – Lou Reed, Dave Gahan or Sherly Crow. We are proud to be chosen by her and hope to can serve Joan also during her next visits in Wroclaw.

November 2009
24 November: Cesaria Evora.
We proudly inform that the great honor of organizing catering for Cesaria Evora fell to our lot. This ethno music vocalist of great caliber visited Poland during last year’s edition of Ethno Jazz Festival. She was several times nominated to Grammy Award and finally got it in 2004. She is known for being a co-author of the famous soundtrack of Underground by Emir Kusturica. She is also famous for supporting actions aimed at improvement of the Third World countries’ condition. That is why, as the very first singer ever, she became the official ambassador of World Food Programme organized under the auspices of UN.

15 November: Baking Christmas small ginger breads.
In November 2009 as a part of our action Ja, Mamma, Papa I Novocina we had a pleasure to invite families together with their children for baking Christmas small ginger breads. This simple and traditional activity turned out to be a great attraction to the little ones. Under the supervision and with the guidance of our Chef the children could see how this typical Christmas cookies are made and make their own ginger breads in the form they preferred and with the supplements they wanted. There were also some other attractions like face painting. Meanwhile the parents had a wonderful opportunity to rest a bit having a coffee and chat together and share experience.

20 September: Lura.
Novocaina Restaurant became a host for the charismatic Cape-Verdean singer Lura - one of the biggest Ethno music stars all over the world. Lura is considered to be a musical heiress of the most famous African singer – Cesaria Evora. Lura chose Novocaina in order to rest for a while as the groups of reporters were dogging her footsteps since she arrived in Wroclaw. One of the most important stars of this year’s edition of Ethno Jazz Festival turned out to be really outgoing and spontaneous person. That was a real pleasure for us to have her as a guest and to invite her to visit us when she will be visiting Wroclaw again.

7-9 September: : Euro Basket – Lithuanian supporters.
Novocaina Restaurant became a host for the group of Lithuanian basketball supporters who came to Wroclaw to see Euro Basket match: Poland-Lithuania. The supporters became famous for their vivid and spontaneous behavior, such as giving away roses to completely surprised women walking through the market square. The Lithuanians enjoyed meals and service of Novocaina so much that they promised to come back if only the opportunity for return match, after the stunning victory of Polish team, will turn up. We are looking forward to see them again!
